Vaccines, heartworm testing, and preventive veterinary services are available at most K-9 Smiles clinic locations throughout Colorado.

Dog Vaccines ($35 each)

Protects against rabies. Required by law in many areas. Administered by a licensed veterinarian — you'll receive a certificate and rabies tag at your appointment.

Protocol

Minimum age 16 weeks. First vaccine requires a booster within 9 months to 1 year, then a booster every 3 years.

Recommended for all dogs. Protects against Canine Parvovirus, Distemper, Adenovirus, and Parainfluenza.

Protocol

Minimum age 6 weeks. Puppies start at 6–8 weeks, repeated every 3–4 weeks until 16–18 weeks. Adult dogs new to vaccination get an initial dose plus a booster 3–4 weeks later.

Recommended for all puppies and dogs, especially those in dog parks, daycare, training, boarding, or grooming. Protects against the most common causes of kennel cough.

Protocol

Intranasal vaccine, given from 8 weeks of age. Boosters recommended yearly.

Recommended for dogs that spend time outdoors or near standing water and wildlife. A bacterial disease that can cause kidney/liver failure and spread to humans.

Available from 6 weeks. Initial series of 2 injections 3–4 weeks apart, then an annual booster.

Cat Vaccines ($35 each)

  • Panleukopenia damages bone marrow, lymph nodes, and intestinal lining.
Protocol

Available from 6 weeks. First-time vaccination requires 3 boosters a month apart, then every 3 years.

Heartworm Testing & Prevention

Tests for heartworm disease with quick in-clinic results. Recommended annually. Get $10 off with the purchase of a 6- or 12-month supply of Tri-Heart preventative.

Monthly chewable tablets, priced by weight and available in 6- or 12-month supplies.
